Hi Mr Booth, and thanks for your email.
I understand your frustrations, as many banks are only happy to arrange unsecured personal loans for up to £15,000 or £25,000 – depending on your circumstances and credit history. They tend to be more risk-averse than prior to the banking crisis, and will often charge more than their advertised APR – blaming it on your credit score or the fact that you’re not a current account holder!
Luckily, we work with specialist lenders who are happy to arrange large personal loans from £20k to £100k – so your £38,000 loan should not be a problem, as long as your credit history is reasonable (it doesn’t have to be perfect).
A large personal loan is quite a sensible option, especially when you’re investing it into your property and increasing its value through home improvements. If you’d like an unsecured loan of £38,000, we can spread your repayments over a term of up to 15 years if you own your own property – but depending on what you can comfortably repay each month, you may be better with a term of 5 years or less. This option would save you interest and would be also be quicker to arrange.
